Merry Ukrainian Christmas 24 12, 5:43am

As I assume most readers here knows, the Nordic countries traditionally celebrates the -eve of holidays, rather then the -day.
So while Christmas day is the major day in the English speaking world, we in the Nordics begin our celebration on Christmas eve - which is now about half an hour away.

The first music played on Swedish public broadcast radio after the stroke of midnight on Christmas eve is always "O holy Night" in a rendition with one of the greatest tenors of all time - who also happens to have been a Swede - Jussi Björling.

This as to mark the beginning of the three days of Christmas, which have traditionally been seen as a time of peace and rest.
I'd recommend anyone to sit back and enjoy this music at some point during Christmas. Regardless if you understand the lyrics (which are sung in Swedish) or not - this is good for the soul:
