Merry Ukrainian Christmas 3 1, 5:24pm

@Nisse_Hult NL has a more Catholic South too, and since the country is small stuff from.that Catholic south can spread to the north pretty fast (especially since Belgium used to be one country together with NL so they were pur Catholic South). Also NL isn't any more or less Catholic or Protestant than Germany currently.

Honestly, NL doesn't celebrate a lot of 'old traditions' at all that could be fake. St. Maarten has actual historical roots, and has been something continuously for as ling as it exists; same for the tiny Epiphany celebration we have, and St. Nick's, and I can't think of any old celebrations otherwise. Christmas, yes, but that doesn't have a lot of fake old elememtbs either, they're either old or new but never fake old.

I understand there are reasons to fake such traditions, it makes sense, but NL only has a number of traditions that already existed in some areas and didn't exist in some other areas and that became popular in the entire country in the 19th century, while changing very little to how the tradition was celebrated.

Out of IKEA in 15 mins? * bows * That's fast!
