Underlying issue is probably that people living in cities tend to romanticize the nature, while adaptability and viciousness of predators is grossly underestimated. This is especially ironic given how house cat is both a common pet and a great example of roaming predator that kills for fun, while being smart enough to overcome even complicated obstacles.
