Quite a few of our restaurants are American franchises that have spread north of the border, and are following the business models of the parent company (which is more cost-efficient for them). We used to get our own standardized sizes, but a lot of them are changing to reflect the American system of sizes. I saw that most recently in Wendy's fast-food restaurant chain; their sizes have all been increased to levels not normally seen outside of movie theaters and theme parks. There've been many complaints, apparently.
