@Finlandball The special lion`s first apperance was at king Gustav I Vasa´s tomb. His son Johan assumed the title of "Grand Duke of Finland and Karelia", shortened to Grand Duke of Finland in 1577 (or soon thereafter), the lion became closely associated with Finland. That was before prince Johan killed his brother king Erik with pie soup and become king Johan III.
