@Sigart Sometimes it's done, sometimes not. Sometimes it's done to a certain degree. It's quite common to collect stumps away, for example. You can always burn the stuff to produce energy, so it's not a wasted effort. Rotting wood matter might also be a concern due to it attracting (economically) harmful insects and fungi.
Small forest fires aren't super uncommon in Finland, they just aren't a big problem, absence of raking notwithstanding.
