@Golightly
If you read that article you linked, the movie was edited in 2014, cutting 8 minutes of non-plot-critical scenes in order to make the movie fit within a television schedule with commercials. Trump's very brief cameo was just part of that. He didn't become president until 2016 (and frankly, none of us thought he WOULD right up until election day. "They can't be THAT stupid, can they?" We all thought. (And no, they were not; the majority of Americans did not vote for him... but the votes of ordinary citizens count for almost nothing. The upper class wanted him in power, so president he became.))

We are not the "Leftists" that Trump Jr. is trying to use a 5 year old movie edit to stir up some news about some "agenda". We're not even in the same damn country as his "Left". No one in the US Democratic parties has the influence and connections (or, I would hope, the idiocy or the motivation to) have a Canadian TV station edit an old movie for their own benefit... and no persons of groups in Canada would have any motivation to invest money or attention, in such a pointless stunt.

In a very general sense, EVERY Canadian party is farther "left" (as in more liberal and less conservative) of the entire USA political spectrum. That doesn't mean OUR politics are part of THEIR politics or visa versa (and thank God for that!) We deal with the USA as one country to another; individual political parties are internal matters, and are not relevant to our international dealings.

As for Brexit... I suppose it's possible England's changing circumstance might have some impact on trade with Canada (as in, they might need to import more of "this" from us, or want to sell more of "that" to us, than they did before) but otherwise, no. We are two separate countries; allies, trade partners, historically related, certainly, but England's relationship with the rest of Europe doesn't have much of anything to do with their relationship to us.

Or to put it another way: We moved out of Dad's house a long time ago. :P
