@Sisu So you said. And so said I. I still do not see an argument to apply the same principle the other way around. It adds nothing. It is counterproductive and will not lead to any increased respect for women in any working environment. Hire people for their skills and be very clear about that. Those companies that I have worked for tgat did just that never had the argument come up that someone was given advantage because of gender. Will it take a while to change the general situation? Yes. Will positive discrimination help change it? No, it will just make it harder for true acceptance as there is always the shadow of being hired to boost the percentages so the company looks inclusive.
