School shooters almost certainly won’t kill your kid, police brutality almost certainly won’t affect you, and so on. Bear in mind that the states with port cities (New York, Louisiana etc.) are taking this seriously, and if you live in the middle of nowhere and you didn’t prepare, oh well.
It’s a terrible way to stop a pandemic, but letting people deal with their own problems is good 99% of the time. We can’t afford to lose sight of that.
