@Shitzadorina Fortunately, you might be protected! Though it's one of the things that makes this virus spread so readily, it's also something that makes mask wearing more effective to the wearer: this virus mostly spreads through aerosols.
The "protects other people" argument was based upon the theory that the virus spreads through droplets that land on surfaces. Masks prevent these droplets getting out, which reduces the chances that somebody will later touch the surface and then rub their face.
But aerosols are inhaled. So a mask can protect you. Especially a respirator mask (e.g. N95). But please get one without an exhalation valve, because those allow aerosols to be exhaled efficiently.
