@Kemm I'm sure outside of the cities, in remote places, you could find vacant houses to buy, assuming you can pay in a single installment and don't need to negotiate with Japanese banks. Now might be an excellent time for that since high fuel prices make such places even less attractive, due to increasing commute costs. Japan has a dwindling population and people have been moving to the cities ever since the world war, so there ought to be unwanted property available.
