I loved this story- the most polite 'war' in hisory. No tearing down of flags, just polite running them down the pole and replacing them with the 'right one'- and, at some point, leaving a bottle of the 'proper' owner's classic alcohol (Canadian Club Whiskey for Canada- the REAL owners ;) ). It's a big rock in the ocean with no plants, no permanent animal population and probably, if at all, only some very hardy lichen living there. Not much of a strategic or valuable piece of real estate. I was actually really sad that us and Denmark and Greenland and Nunavut decided to end it- it really was a pretty funy 'conflict'; and it was an example of the absolute BEST way to fight over land... with flags and booze.
