My Chinese friends always complain about the noisy birds of Australia. I'm used to it and I never thought about it, but tourists must really have a hard time. It's currently approaching 2:00am and I can still hear masked lapwings and native hens yelling at the tops of their little lungs. The real show starts between 4 and 6 in the morning, it's a huge chorus. Anyone who has seen Jurassic Park films would be proud of our birds for their voice acting.
We're not even the worst. New Zealand has historical precedent, explorers wrote of the horrors of their booming bird calls.
