Hey, we're back! We're sorry we were absent for a lot of 2023. If you relied on us for little slices of escapism we're especially sorry. We've got a few strips queued up, and hope to have 1 per week ish.
This is a mix of Australia Day on the 26th and National Bird Day on the 5th. I'm told England, while on holiday in Australia, is a huge fan of waking up and listening to Australia's birds.
My Chinese friends always complain about the noisy birds of Australia. I'm used to it and I never thought about it, but tourists must really have a hard time. It's currently approaching 2:00am and I can still hear masked lapwings and native hens yelling at the tops of their little lungs. The real show starts between 4 and 6 in the morning, it's a huge chorus. Anyone who has seen Jurassic Park films would be proud of our birds for their voice acting.
We're not even the worst. New Zealand has historical precedent, explorers wrote of the horrors of their booming bird calls.
You definitely were missed and I'm glad you're back.
I think for February holidays, I have to vote for Brazilian Carnival (9 Feb) and Army Day in North Korea (8 Feb). Seems like a good mix of joy & doom.
Valentine's Day (February 14) and International Self-Care Day (February 20): These two events can create a great theme of love and self-care, encouraging people to love themselves Run 3 and those around them.
I have parrots. Every day is Bird Day, and starts with a resounding chorus of "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" from the macaw, then the mooching from the macaw and the grey.
