@kwerboom It's a mix. They've already arrested judges and deported citizens. They've done damage in a few months that will take decades to fix, if it even can be fixed. Other countries are welcoming scientists who will probably never come back. They've wiped out institutional expertise that took decades to build.
Sure, they're incompetent. But when the goal is to break everything but the institutions that they intend to use as means of terror, well, they've done a remarkably good job.
Hitler took power in 1933. The systematic murder didn't start until 1939. We've got a few more safety mechanisms than 1933 Germany, but they're still fragile, we're already at a constitutional crisis when a 9-0 SCrOTUS order is being blatantly ignored.
