In the Netherlands, of course, May 4th is a day on which the entire country observes two minutes of silence to commemmorate all civilians and Dutch armed forces who've died in wars and peacekeeping missions since WWII.
Of course, I'm bad with calendars, and apparently hearing "May the 4th be with you" and responding "Oh hey, two minutes of silence tonight, I almost forgot, thanks" is somewhat confusing to other people.
@ZeConster being that Star Wars is a multi generation war where whole plantets get destroyed and a whole religion was genocided. Two minutes of silence doesn't seem out of place.
Although two minutes of silence should be observed by real life people who lost their lives and not fictional ones
@westofEden it's a silly 'holiday" to celebrate Star Wars "May the force be with you" so because "May the 4th" sounds similar people made it a "holiday"
@BinBin I think it's a joke about how USA goes Month/Day and Canada goes Day/Month first contact is April 5th
So both US and Canada are using 5/4 only with month and day switched
