Characters

This page is created by the SatW community. It's a work in progress.
Ordered by the number of comics they are in:

Denmark

The ultimate free spirit, energetic, impulsive, and always on the lookout for something to drink and/or someone to screw, not necessarily in that order. His hedonism and his inadvertant racism get him into a lot of trouble, but fortunately Norway and Sweden usually manage to get him out of it.

Sweden

The most serious, reserved, and tech-savvy of the Scandinavian trio, Sweden could probably stand to loosen up a little. He is easily frustrated with those who fail to meet his high standards, which often puts him at odds with Denmark and sometimes Norway as well. It took him a long time to admit even to himself that he was gay, and he's still shy about it being widely known. It is no secret, however, that he is going steady with Åland.

Sister Sweden

Unlike most of the sisters, Sister Sweden is not very much like her brother at all. She is completely shameless about sex and has many lovers, though her favorite is, oddly enough, Finland. She prefers to dominate men in the bedroom, and for the most part they are happy to be dominated by her.

Norway

An easygoing nature lover, occupying a comfortable middle ground between Denmark's recklessness and Sweden's uptightness. He usually has a fish on him, although whether it's a meal or a pet is anyone's guess. He is Denmark's best friend (with benefits!) and one of the last holdouts against the suave charm of King EU, but beyond that not much is known about his relationships.

Iceland

Technically Norway's little brother, though you'd never know it to look at the two of them. Iceland is a nice enough guy, but living so close to the volcanic gates of Hell has given him some...odd quirks (and an unworried attitude toward demons). He loves extreme sports, big cars, and himself--he is far too beautiful to fall in love with anyone but the sparkling young man in the mirror.

Finland

Perpetually scowling, rarely speaking (and then only to swear in his native tongue), he is never seen without his butcher knife, his booze, and his trademark hat. The only people who can intimidate him are Russia and his own cousin, Åland. The only one who can make him smile, however--or say anything other than "Perkele!" is his girlfriend, Sister Sweden.

America

Pretty much a lummox. He means well, but he's too ultimately too ignorant and too immature to make a meaningful positive difference in the affairs of the other countries. Still, with as rich, powerful, and well-armed as he is, they all know it's better to keep him happy. And he does mean well...

Comics containing America

Sister America

As pushy and ill-informed as her brother, although at least her clueless kneejerk liberalism can keep his clueless kneejerk conservatism in check. For instance, she fully supports gay right, because a) guys making out are totally hot, and b) penguins are adorable! Her boobs are fake, but the little dog on her head is real. Its name is Ottawa.

Belgium

The chocolate addicted comic loving redhead who can't drive. Sister Japan made a yaoi manga about him and Netherlands. Netherlands, however doesn't like him that much, which Belgium complains about. He has a burgundian life style and will always enjoy a party with friends, beer, Flemish fries and beer.

Sister Estonia

The lovely Baltic country who just wants to be accepted as a Nordic! The only problem is, none of the other Nordics agree with her. According to them, she's not Nordic at all. And one of the main reasons she wants to be Nordic? To party with the cute Nordic boys!

Netherlands

One of Denmark's best friends, is almost always high and loves to give Sister Japan surprise yaoi's. Also, like Denmark, uses a bike to get around normally. Also loves playing vampire hunter with Romania.

Comics containing Netherlands

Russia

Does he like vodka? Yes. Does he drink alot? Yes. Does he have bitches? Yes, just ask Italy. Russia wears a cool hat, and with his beard, they both keep him warm during his cold winters. If oil is discovered, you can bet money that Russia will be there first.

Comics containing Russia

Ireland

Usually an easy-going fella despite being the butt of many jokes. The horrendous amount of alcohol constantly permeating his being probably helps the poor redhead. However, he is not afraid to show a meaner side of the Luck of the Irish due to consistent arguments with his neighbors, England in particular.

Åland

Finland's cousin and the love of Sweden's life, in some ways he combines traits of both. Like his boyfriend, he is a computer nerd with a low tolerance for tomfoolery, but like his cousin, he has a vicious temper when angered. He can make even Russia think twice about messing with him.

England

A rather prim fellow who enjoys drinking tea, birdwatching, and gardening. The patriarch of a sprawling clan, he has a bad habit of ignoring his children in favor of his hobbies, which is probably why there's so much rebellion in that family.

Australia

An obsessive surfer and gifted animal wrangler who has managed to combine both pursuits. One of England's many children, he was a troublemaker as a child, but a stint in reform school benefited him greatly and he is now both well-adjusted and well-liked on the world stage. He is similar in some respects to his brother America, and gets a kick out of annoying him.

Canada

Born to France and later adopted by England, Canada is meeker and more soft-spoken than his foster brothers. This makes it easy for America to push him around and wear him as a hat, because...what can you do, eh? Besides, he's the only one who understands how insecure America really is.

Germany

Yes, he's unkempt, but he has better things to worry about than keeping his hair combed. When he's not racked with guilt by the antics of his evil counterpart Nazi Germany, he's having his attempts to court Sister Japan sabotaged by Denmark and the Netherlands.

Nazi Germany

A big thorn in the Scandinavians' collective side in his heyday and still trying to prove his relevance in the modern day, Nazi Germany is the closest thing this comic has to a recurring villain. If not for him, Germany could probably relax and enjoy the 21st Century.

Greenland

One of Denmark's roommates/lodgers, although he doesn't like Denmark one bit. He's generally grouchy and drinks too much. Good at dealing with ghosts, though.

Freetown Christiania

Denmark's young hippie son, even more of a slacker and pleasure-seeker than his father. He spends most of his time getting high. He and Denmark have a rocky relationship, probably because they are so similar.

Fenno-Swede

The son of Sweden and Sister Finland, conceived while Sweden was still in the closet and trying desperately to stay there. He's a snappy dresser and always cheerful, despite the fact that he's being raised by knife-wielding psychos who never talk to him.

Scania

The lovechild of Sister Sweden and Denmark, although he may or may not know who his father is. In any case, Brother Sweden stands in as his male role model, but unfortunately Scania takes after his real father enough to keep things tense.

Sister Japan

Very polite, very demure...and harboring a serious yaoi fetish, to the point of explosive nosebleeds at the sight of attractive boys making out. Although she and Germany are sweet on each other, their relationship can't go anywhere as long as Denmark and the Netherlands keep springing their "yaoi surprises" on her.
