Made this comic last year for Comic Party http://comicparty.dk/ which is why you get two comics about German/Danish relations in a row.
Anyway, when Denmark briefly got a bit of it's border control back last year (stopped 1 in 100 cars or something like that) the Germans didn't just complain that it was against European agreements, but also took it as a very personal attack on them, probably because Germany is the only country connected to Denmark by land.
Germany, now don't start doing that thing Russia does going around harassing people with declarations of love while drunk and whatnot. Poor Finland. Still hilarious, though. ^_^
At the US border with Canada, we have lasers that can detect if something crosses the border, and when it does, there are cameras so that people can see whether it is just an animal or a human.
@Lekastan
A very long stretch (about 5/8 of the nearly 9000km total) of our border are just undefended forest. We have a 20-meter wide bare line known as "The Slash" through the woods, and hire workers to re-clear-cut it every 5 years or so. Otherwise if you were hiking in the deep woods, you could literally leave your country and have no awareness of it.
Naturally the places where the border is near more populated areas and large cities have proper checkpoints. Smuggling DOES rarely happen through The Slash... but quite honestly it's pretty rough terrain, with deep forest on both sides. You'd probably have an easier time sneaking something through the checkpoints in your car's trunk... and that way you can have air conditioning, radio, and stop for coffee as you smuggle. Much more pleasant experience (and much less likely to be eaten by a bear also.)
@SchrodySweden Yeah, I have to admit that one would be hard to HINGE on to. (It's supposed to be a play off of the word 'transom' which I found when i searched 'door related words'... I don't really know what it means, but it has something to do with doors ;P)
@DanishPride Ok apparently it's the little bar that separates a door from the window above it. I suppose that term could be used as an architecTURING TEST

Well, Germans do like to invade their neighbors. And dig holes.
