Santa Claus made them famous. There's some people in the USA I know, who think Reindeer aren't real, but are mythical, magical creatures, like unicorns and dragons!

For the record, we have tons of "Reindeer" in Canada too, but we use the native Inuit name for them: Caribou (pronounced "Care-ri-Boo"). Reindeer is the term used in Europe. They're the same species.

They range farther north of where I live. We get regular deer around here.
They're more skittish, but sometimes try to cross roads at night, jumping out in front of cars, apparently convinced they can make it in time. Not quite the same as boldly walking slowly across a road as if they have nothing to fear.
I suppose deer never played that Frogger game as a kid.
