I thought Bonobos were considered monkeys, not apes? (Goes to Google) Okay, so they are technically apes, considered a subspecies of Chimpanzee.

They also hump everything and everyone all day long. They matriarchal, and genetically speaking they are our closest relatives in the primate world (commonly thought to be the standard chimps, but no, it's the horndog bonobos.)

The distinction between the two species categories is mainly based on which one has a tail, IIRC.

@Hinoron We're equally distant from bonobos and chimpanzees. We split off from the common ancestor of all three of us, and then they split into separate species more recently than that.

And yes, as pointed out, monkeys have tails, apes don't.
