I actually sketched this out back when Sweden legalized gay marriage, but for some reason I never finished it.
It originally had a little comic ending with this, where Norway accused Sweden of being homophobic (In Norway Swedes are stereotypically seen as homophobes, much like Danes are seen as racist).
And I am now told Finland is getting ready to legalize gay marriage as well, and when that happens I have a cute little idea for a comic that all Swede-hating Finns will hate.

Pardon? We had gay marriage legalized decades before America did.
Gay American couples used to come up here for their weddings. Some still do. Niagra Falls is a popular destination for it in my part of the country.
FYI our solution in many large cities to the whole Trans-person bathroom debate was to take the gendered signs OFF the bathrooms entirely; not implemented everywhere yet to be sure, but give it time.
We also abolished slavery about 100 years before the USA (right about the time we started acting as our own, unique country) and while we can't make everyone play nice together, institutionalized racism is virtually nonexistent here by comparison to the US.
So if you're looking to flee the USA's 10-steps-forward-9-back creeping liberalism for a place with more "traditional values", Canada is not for you. We've ALWAYS been more left-wing and moderate than our southern neighbors... starting with how we're one of the very few countries of the world who gained their independence without going to war over it. (Which reminds me; no "right to bear arms" up here either.)
@zuzanna OH SNAP!!! /THATS/ WHY HE ALWAYS SEEMED SO EXTRA-COORDINATED TO ME. HOW THE HELL DID IT TAKE ME 9 YEARS TO REALIZE THIS. AND IT WASNT EVEN ME THAT FIGURED IT OUT. smmfh *_*
seriously tho... wow what a lovely concept. to genetically match your national flag, heh. ='}c
@zuzanna
Now the question that will keep you awake at night:
Does a combination of deliberate mate selection and patriotism lead to an abundance of blue-eyed blondes in Sweden (that is, blue-eyed blondes choosing to marry and have children with other blue-eyed blondes, because those are the national colours and they'd feel proud to have "Swedish-coloured" children?)
Oooooor... is the flag of Sweden blue and yellow BECAUSE there was, in that era, an abundance of blue-eyed blondes?
:looks at the comic: "hmm seems intreasting" :clicks it: :O :spits out water: "DONT KEEP IT A SECRET >:O LET THE WORLD KNOW! LET THEM KNOW IT'S OK TO BE GAY" >:O
@PupuPuuro I once read a ranking called "Countries with the biggest gay population". Let me tell you something: Sweden wasn't in that ranking. I'm really curious what would Finns think if they would hear this...
I did some researches and only 19 countries has legalized homosexual wedding.
It isn't that much, but it is a great evolution of human and cultural mentalities though
