It would have been awesome if they used those molds to make concrete LEGO bricks and built the thing with those instead of dumping the old molds in the concrete...
@Think_Tank no, definitely not, as a normal construction would need steel reinforcement and would be best poured in one piece, but the thought itself is intriguing.
Not exactly. Some house-building robots actually use bricks with those little nubs on the tops of lego bricks, with adhesive of course. The question becomes whether the robots should use those nubbed-bricks, regular bricks with regular mortar, or if it's all being done by robots anyway just 3D print the entire thing with layers of concrete.
Also, fun fact, in ancient times a lot of giant stone blocks did have those nubs on them to keep the blocks from slipping.
@Fluffybunny So that´s where they went! I don´t use Facebook anymore so I didn´t see them, but it´s nice to know that Humon still does her stuff! Hopefully the strips will make it here eventually!
@Fluffybunny I was wondering the same thing. I don't use social media sites, and after the third week of missing the new comics, I'm starting to feel like Denmark in the strip above. :-)
@Horsi I'm board of Legos quickly sometimes. But minecrat is like Legos x infinity. I just can't get board of it. Make a castle, fireworks,learn code, blow stuff up, and make friends. And slot more. I can't find an end compared to Legos. I still love Legos though as they are how I started
God, I miss when Lego had original themes and not everything being licensed IP crap.
The glory days of Space Police, Ice Planet, Spyrius, Aquanauts, etc. It is nice that they brought Technic back, even though they're just colorful, flashy exterior where you can't see the gears and stuff.
@loupblanc I had a bunch of those sets, one of their space themes, red and black bricks, had a thing for robots, and giant robots, but with wheels not legs
But I'm still 16-23 at heart. And I am a bit annoyed at how regressive Generation Z is turning out to be. I recently encountered a discussion where girls were asking if it's okay for girls to buy dakimakuras. Dangit, the dark age when girls felt ashamed or hesitant to be into geeky and nerdy things was my generation's albatross. It's supposed to be long past!

@Dan It's not just a Gen Z thing, it's a... for lack of a better term Immature Male thing. It's quite common with guys from middle school through college and even a few years beyond. A lot of those guys eventually mature mentally & emotionally, get married, have kids, etc. and start acting differently. Some never change, and are total jerks till the day they die. I don't know if it'll ever be solved, because I've seen guys I _know_ were raised not to act that way start acting like that as soon as they got away from home.
That dakimakura discussion sounds totally ridiculous though, does the girl have money to pay for it? If so, she can buy whatever the hell she wants, just like everyone else. Only room for argument would be age, if she's underage she probably shouldn't be buying R-18 ones, but that applies to underage boys as well.
And before anyone takes offense, let me be clear that I'm not saying all guys act this way, just far, far too many.
@Manabi
If you say so. It seems to me that hostility towards girl geeks has greatly increased since I was in highschool/college, with being a decent human being just inviting calls of "virtue-signaling white knight!" and "SJW!"
That's all I'll say about that. Now git off my lawn!
@Dan was gonna argue that they still have original stuff but after checking the 2018 Lego catalogue I have to admit that you seem to be right. The only original series in it was Lego Ninjago.
@Intelliblue Ah, ye good ol' days of Blacktron, the original Space Sets from the 80s, even the modern ones from the early 2000s. *Sniff...*
All the good things are now on Lego Ideas, like the Saturn V or the ISS or classic Space sets. And even there, Space and Retro Space are having a hard stand.
@weelydangle
A mix of both is also fine, I used to remove the canons and guns from the pirates sets, Combine it with a castle or two and use the normal bricks to build amedievel harbour town, which got either attacked by Land from other set Knights or by Sea by the Pirates.
You need a lot of bricks even for a small harbour town though.
@nroejb But the best thing about building a town that gets attacked (or some kind of other disaster occurs, like maybe an earthquake) is that then you get to rebuild it (making important improvements while you're at it)
@weelydangle For me it was the fact that the Lego people could easily be beheaded, have an arm or hand removed or put in two halves to fit the medieval warfare theme, but improving on my constructions was also good.
@berugi Well, nice idea, but I don't like them. They are just random manga characters, with no connection to the country the flag represents whatsoever, concerning skin color, face characteristics or anything.
@Eldkatten I have to agree on that.
They could at least have put a tiny bit of effort in and had them with some superficial resemblance to each countries leaders.
That would have made Germany a Mature Valkyrie with Angela Merkel and Canada's a Brunette Bishounen with Justin Trudeau.
The one for France would be more of a ferret, Italy a Greying Mel Brooks type, States a carrot top of some girth and bombast, UK a greying Matron type, Japan needs to be a bit heavier set and older, Russia would be a less scruffy Finland but more dangerous.
