If your referring to one of Iceland's volcanoes as the gate to hell, implying that the magma below the surface is hell, it would be logical to conclude Iceland was created by him crawling out of the depths of hell.

actually, Hekla was named the gateway to hell because at one point the Vikings saw Hekla erupting and though it was the gateway to hell
