In Chinese they are called "beloved animals."
...but sometimes we just call them "masters". Especially cats.

I think this comic should be tagged as the countries the pets names are from

like Brazil, Scandinavia, Spain, Hungary, Israel, France and, Philippines

like how Ladybug Around the World has the country names tagged

In Iceland:
Gæludýr (Affection showing/receiving animal) are pets.
Húsdýr (House animal) refers to all domesticated animals, whether pets or livestock.
Búfé (Farm riches/animal) and Búsmali (Farm herdable) is specifically livestock.

In Sweden:
Sällskapsdjur (Companion animal) are pets.

In Sweden we actually call them "house animals".

Google Translate says we call them "companion animals" and that the translation is verified by contributors. Might be a regional thing but I've never heard that term.

(Sidenote, what's up with 5 comics with dates ranging between January and March showing up at the end of April?)

In finnish, pet is "lemmikki" which is bit derivate word from "lempi" ("love") lightly meaning "lovable one"

I have no idea where it ordinates from but I know in US a lot pet owners call their pets their "fur baby" especially if it's a cat or dog
