Inspired by this drawing [link] by [link]

South America is not North America’s invisible friend here. The Scandinavian boys just can't see him, just like North America can't see Denmark. :D

Few people in America know what Denmark is and surprisingly many sees Norway as the same thing as Sweden, which sounds ridicules to us over here, but I can guarantee you that if you asked random people on the streets of Scandinavia what all that land underneath America is, too many would either say “I don’t know” “Isn’t it all America?” or “Mexico?”. Or they would know it was South America, but have no idea what the countries within it was called. We know shit about South America.

And I put a link on the comic this time as many people have requested.

I didn't realise how true this was until the map of the world in class listed that Sweden and Norway as the same country and Denmark as a bunch of Islands

This is awesome! While I was reading this, I could only think of how in Hetalia, America almost never sees Canada! XD

HILARIOUS! I'm from Paraguay (also South America) and we honestly don't know much about the Nordic countries. And I have experienced that many Europeans do not even know where my country is. While I was living in Germany, a guy told me "South america? oh, yes! I went to Mexico once" (?!)
I'm living in Sweden now and looking forward to move to Copenhagen for the summer. I've learn SO MUCH about the Scandinavian countries reading these comics!! And of course, I've laugh a lot!

Aww, poor Denmark. He needs a hug.

you see this isn't a surprise to me, but i used to look at the maps in the back of my history books as a small child.... and i read the history books... willingly... i was a weird kid, but it was like a true story book.... it just made me smarter.... btw half the kids in my school think south america is honduras, mexico, brazil, columbia, and in some cases spain <.<'' we have a lot of idiots here...

So true...... :/
A dane(Omar Marzouk, I know it doesn't Danish though....) once went to U.S.A.... and then an American asked where he was from... He replied "Denmark".... Then the American went like "Denmark? Isn't that the capital in Ikea??"
- It kindda sucks, but it's hilariously true ^^

I'm actually surprised by America's apparent ignorance. I've always known what Norway was, but maybe that's because there was a Norwegian kid in my elementary school.

So true! I'm from Argentina, so that makes me South American.
I have been laughing till I started coughing. You have captured pretty much the worldwide stereotype about us: brown skinned, curly hair and... tobacco producers? Hilarious.
In reality most of us are from european descent, not only because of the conquistadores and many immigrational waves from europe from late 19th and early 20th centuries, but specially after WW I and II.
Taking me for example, I have italian, spanish and french grandparents, and that mix makes me tall, pale white skinned, brown eyed, reddish brown straight hair and curvy. I would love to see a representation of Latin American countries! Maybe a tribute to the FIFA World Cup or an UN Party? (Pretty please? If I have to beg and do the "Puss in Boots" look, I will!)

Poor denmark. I want to hug him <3

Ok, that is so true! Before I took history this year many student could not tell the difference between any Scandinavian countries and Denmark was one of those countries you were supposed to learn but knew that it would not be on the test. Yes our school system made a major fail

9:59am Fri 6th Apr #8280925

Im from the US, and in my history class we took a geography test of our own map. It was a picture of the continental US, with Alaska and Hawaii in a corner. We were told to name them all. Over half of just my class failed. We don't even know our own country.

2:22pm Wed 4th Apr #8278238

Denmark:
1) Knows where America is BUT
2) Thinks America is only a country, not a continent as well
3) Constantly confuses The USA with "America"

"Hey, so when are you moving to America?"
"I'm moving to The US?"
"Didn't you say you were moving to America?"
"Yeah, Los Angeles."
"Riiiiight, Los Angeles! That's it...Where's Los Angeles?"

"[name of very smart friend] you know where Los Angeles is, right?"
"Yeah, of course! It's next to Mexico City."
"...you're kidding..."
"Yeah, yeah I know it's by The Gulf of Mexico. Isn't it?"
*facepalm*

"So how is your American going?"
"It's not...?"
"No? It's that hard, huh?"
"I'm not learning American."
"I thought you were...?"
"It's not American."
"Yeah, that's what they speak in America."
"English. They speak English in The USA."

"Where are you going again? America?"
"The USA! I'm going to The USA!"
"Is that not where America is?"
"The USA is in [North] America."
"I thought America and The USA were the same thing."
"I think you're thinking of the country United States of America and the continent North America."
"No, that's not it..."

"America? Why America? There is nothing in America!" (there are two American continents called North AND South America, but come on, who would think of the continent as one country?)

My favorite, and relating to this comic but unrelated to my rebuttal of MsAmerica:
"New Mexico isn't a state, you're making that up. There is nothing betweens Arizona and Texas. Hah, crazy Mexican."
|-( for Washington's sake.
This was told to me once BY AN AMERICAN!

7:24am Fri 30th Mar #8268384

America:
1) Doesn't know where Denmark is
2) Thinks Danish is only a pastry, not a language as well
3) Constantly confuses Denmark with Holland

"Hey, so when are you moving to Amsterdam?"
"I'm not moving to Amsterdam...?"
"Didn't you say you were moving to Europe?"
"Yeah, Denmark."
"Riiiiight, Denmark! That's it...Where's Denmark?"

"[name of very smart friend] you know where Denmark is, right?"
"Yeah, of course! It's next to Bolivia."
"...you're kidding..."
"Yeah, yeah I know it's by Russia. Isn't it?"
*facepalm*

"So how is your Dutch going?"
"It's not...?"
"No? It's that hard, huh?"
"I'm not learning Dutch."
"I thought you were...?"
"Why would I be learning Dutch? I'm in Denmark."
"Yeah, that's what they speak in Denmark."
"Danish. They speak Danish in Denmark."

"Where are you going again? Amsterdam?"
"Denmark! I'm going to Denmark!"
"Is that not where Amsterdam is?"
"Amsterdam is in Holland."
"I thought Denmark and Holland were the same thing."
"I think you're thinking of The Netherlands and Holland."
"No, that's not it..."

"Denmark? Why Denmark? There is nothing in South Dakota!" (there are several cities in the US called Denmark, but come on, who would think of the city before the country?)

My favorite, and relating to this comic:
"Denmark isn't a country, you're making that up. Hah, crazy girl."
|-( for fuck's sake.

Ahh, reflecting on our nation of stupid materialistic "showstars" . . . .

8:04pm Fri 23rd Mar #8256662

...what?

6:02pm Thu 22nd Mar #8255749

I live in America and it sounds rediculous to me that americans cant differentiate countries or find them on a map. our school system sucks by the way.

10:31am Wed 21st Mar #8252665

"America's point of view" priceless...
