I loathe and fear wasps, and anything like them, including yellow jackets, hornets, etc... and the stuff in Canada is nothing compared to what you may find in other parts of the globe.... My irrational fear of wasps and other stingy things has almost gotten me killed many times, as I will run a mile away in any direction to avoid a wasp, which sometimes leads to me running on the road or into a parking lot.... I feel like an idiot.....,
At least we have those big fluffy bumble bees, they're about as harmless as a dog, you could probably catch one in your hands and pet it and it wouldn't even care to sting or bite, though I don't think it'll want to stay long as they tend to fly away as soon as they get the chance.
@nekomaster In Siberia, we have small mothlike creatures called "gnus". Their bites cause a huge and painful swelling for as long as about 2 weeks.
I got bitten once, so can I attest: wasps are flying good fairies compared to these moths.
@Pechestelo but consider the fact that as soon as its warm, like spring, Wasps come out in droves and they're everywhere... EVERY WHERE!! And they tend to sting for no reason, and they sting multiple times and they let off pharamones that alert nearby wasps to sting you as well. Some people have died from being stung by a swarm of wasps
@Isdaril
It's true enough to say that they wouldn't fly there voluntarily; they had to be taken when their ground nest was scooped up by a sod-rolling machine and shipped across the sea. Now they're understandably pissed.
