Not just Russia. It's a generational thing. In my parents' generation here in Murca it was considered unmanly, and Real Men(tm) wouldn't do that. Now? It's pretty much assumed that a considerate lover will routinely do this. Well, at least among the people I know.

You all get that this comic is based on stereotypes of other countries, correct? Hence why Sister America was originally portrayed as an extreme Paris Hilton-like valley girl (until she got some more character growth to counteract Brother America's horrible hyper-conservative beliefs he occasionally has).

Those "studies" usually define "penetration alone" as penetration with no contact between the clitoris and penis. Most women can get off with normal sex, since, you know, the clitoris is usually in contact with everything unless the couple is trying to avoid it.

@CorruptUser I’m sorry, you lost me the second you felt the need to put quotation marks around “studies.” Since you seem soooooo familiar with them, perhaps you’d like to talk some more about the percentage of women found to have a distance of greater than one inch between their clitoris and their vaginal opening, and the role that plays in whether or not women have an orgasm?

@TuxedoCartman First of all 70% falls well within the bounds of "Many". Secondly it's not entirely true, most women can get off through penetrative sex alone, the fact that most don't is usually more a case of the man often climaxing first and then stopping or poor technique all round. Just because they don't climax doesn't mean they can't with the right amount of time and technique.

@TuxedoCartman Odd how defensive and ridicuously insulting you got there when I just made a correct statement about the definition of "many" and offered an alternative option for why the figures may look that way.

I know lots of researchers (yes women included), none of them would choose the words you did to describe something like that as definitive fact when it's a complex issue, all of which would welcome discussion regarding their studies. None would be immature enough to resort to name-calling and ridicule.

@Zealian It's not so much skill as intensity of contact. The bumping and brushing that a clitoris normally gets with typical PiV intercourse isn't focused or concentrated enough to trigger off an orgasm. With tongue and fingers, it's much easier to maintain the more constant stimulation needed. Many women have better luck with PiV if they're on top and can control the pressure on their clitoris.

@BethMit To be fair it is apparently possible for most women to train orgasm from penetration as well, but that all depends on the nerve endings and structure of the muscles. There are women out there who can't orgasm at all. It is true though, oral is more intense and stimulating, and it is quite common experience for women. So fear not Zeallan, there is nothing unusual about your experience, no shame about it, and it is good that you know yourself well enough to know what works and what doesn't.

I've read a lot of interviews and surveys of sex workers, and they say people would be shocked at how attentive clients often are. Now, making the jump from typical john to someone who flat-out buys a mail-order bride, who's to say... but I could see the underlying principle of "Man is more appreciative of something he's had trouble getting, expresses said appreciation physically" applying here as well.
