@Wolfenbuehl We keep shaking our leg to drop him...but he won't let go. He's resilient! @ USA Sorry. ;) We won't drop you. Really. Well I guess it depends on who wins your election. O.o
'@Jd2016'
You know Canada, the one way you've always been capable of in taming the beast....is becoming one.
50+ surefire Democrat electoral votes....all the new senators...the new reps...you would shift the USA further leftward in one fell swoop.
Making impossible the election of Trump or even Bush.
You would lose your independence, your separate identity, your cherished apartness from the southern mammoth....but you would bring balance to the force and save the whole world from the unstable insanity of the American right.
We don't need Democratic votes. Hillary already has it won as it stands, but that's exactly the problem. We need Trump to drop out so we can all vote Green instead. Jill Stein would actually make a GOOD president. Hillary is just the somewhat less catastrophic option in the current setup.
@MightyPants they aren't Nazis.... they merely accommodated the advance in to Poland and helped remove minorities.. the party line is that "we were neutral" te-hee
Last time there was a big crash half of Europe became Fascist and the other half became Communist. It took forty years and too many deaths to sort that mess out.
Plus I and 300 million others actually like this 200 year old experiment, even if it has it's faults. It's not exactly healthy for a country to keep switching from Kingdom to Republic to Empire to back to Republic to Empire again and so on.
@canadasherligste Which southern neighbor? Because Mexico isn't exactly helping make the world a better place, what with their government being run by drug cartels. Granted, the US didn't HELP with that; what with arming said drug cartels, but still. We're at least attempting to try something DIFFERENT. It was the traditional career politicians that got us into trouble, so they aren't to be trusted to get us out of trouble. Thus, something different is needed, and Trump is the only option that:
1. Has a chance of winning
and
2. isn't a known corrupt career politician.
@Tartock Almost all of the drug cartel weapons come from Mexican and Guatemalan military armories, except for those they buy from international smugglers and Singapore, with shady EUCs. The "American guns arm Mexican gangs" meme is hyperbolic myth. Even with the debacle of Fast and Furious, it was a few hundred guns of millions.
@Tartock Actually so long as the Democrats don't split the vote, Donald Trump actually isn't that favorable. Because half of the Republican voters don't like him, and most of the other Republicans publicly denounced him. Also it's pretty known now that he's in Russia's pockets.
Hilary isn't going to be the best President, but at least she won't drive our country into the ground.
'@Tartock'
1. Mexico's government is engaged in a horrifically bloody war with the drug cartels.
2. We are not arming the drug cartels as any kind of policy, its more that a massive arms industry trickles south.
3. None of this has anything to do with US politicians.
4. Trump is corrupt, just not as a politician, which is different because
5. Chance of winning lolllll, what the hell polls have you been looking at. Mondale style blowout here we come.
6. Trump is a disasterous nightmare candidate that would usher in a wave of incompetence mixed with dangerous white populism. Sounds cool man.
7. Lol at you.
@sagas I won't count Trump out till the election is over. People thought Regan was a joke candidate back in the day too. All it takes is folks being complacent enough to not go vote, assured their guy is going to get enough votes for theirs not to matter.
'@Spiritbw'
Nothing about your description of Reagan circa 1980, or Trump circa August 2016 makes me think you're really on top of electoral history or electoral now here.
@Tartock Trump being "trying something different" is like deciding the air inside a room smells funny but instead trying something different like moving outside you decide to try to breathe water.
Even ignoring the fact that the man is a complete dick....From where we stand watching, with Trump's Russian puppet strings, his complete obliviousness to how international trade and foreign policy work, his threats to bully NATO countries AND to renegotiate or walk away from NAFTA, and that ridiculous effing wall...if he wins and gets his way, our continent will absolutely be screwed.
@Tartock If he wins it will affect badly not just the US but the whole world, I fear. I don't know weather americans ever noticed but at least in europe people are worried too. He just tries to spread fear and says he would solve problems and is totally manipulative in order to get people to vote for him. And btw those threats he mentions would be a lot less if not everybody would be allowed to possess guns. In other countries for example you need a license to have one (for sports i.g.) and you have to keep them locked up. And of course the police has a data file about everybody who owns a gun. After all the second amendment was made in1789. You're not in the Wild West anymore. Just saying.
'@Amber'_Ly
The Wild West was a thing in the later 1800's. It did not exist as a concept at all in 1789, or have anything to do with our bizarre archaic second amendment. Just saying.
That had more to do with being a country that fought it's recent independence war with militias and guerrilla tactics.
@Amber_Ly The second amendment is there to keep the U.S. free. If we are armed, then the government can be fought. That is the purpose of the second amendment. It is the reason why Japan never made it onto American soil. It is the reason why the government wants to take them away.
The second amendment to the constitution is there to allow the people to rise up and overthrow a corrupt government. It is meant that whatever the Military has, everyone else can get so long as they can afford it.
Using weaponry from back then: If you want a 68 pound gun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/68-pounder_gun), and you can afford to buy it, you can have one.
Using modern weaponry: You want an M1A2 Abrams or a Leopard 2? If you can afford to buy it then you should be allowed to have it. No questions asked.
Why? Because if the civilian populous can take down the government, then the government won't try to take their rights, for fear of their own death (or loss of power; for many of those corrupt fucks, that is worse than death).
The first thing that any dictator has ever done to gain control was disarm the populous. This is what Hitler did, this is what Lenin and Stalin did, this is what Mao did. If you want to keep your power, you make sure that no-one can fight you. It's the reason why Europe is quickly loosing it's rights. They couldn't fight their governments if they wanted to.
Only Switzerland is safe.
'Murica was and is … not so much "fat" but well-nourished but that poster was from mid-August last year and we had NO idea people would take the moron, stupidity, sucker, against their own interests, lack of understanding, willingness to be lied to, heuristic vote. Now there's "leadership" obese from orange high fructose corn syrup and complete unawareness of the world outside his bubble and evil Cabinet secretaries with great desire to destroy the Department they head, encouraged by Congressional leaders.
Their behaviors say we have no budget to maintain a world standing, yet if we try we're a laughingstock.
Half my reply vanished- there were metaphors about the Trumpian as Orange Word Salad, consumer of high fructose corn syrup, a particularly stupid toddler… I even wrote what I thought was a decent word salad.
Meanwhile- he has no right to do any of what he does. I apologize to you all. Maybe I'll rewrite the replay or just wait: the Trumpian hasn't decided what weight he's going to be. He'll announce that next month.
