Most places in the US people buy a spot for their family member that is supposed to be everlasting.

In Europe however it's common practice to reuse graves. People buy a spot for however long it's expected for a body/urn to decompose. After that they can choose to re-buy the spot for another number of years if they so wish. If they don't want to, another person will be buried there.

It's so popular for young men in Saudi Arabia to do crazy car stunts that it has become the no. 1 reason for early deaths, or "lost years". In all other countries it's things like diseases, crime, stroke, war and heart disease.

China was banned from showing Eurovision because they censored the show. Eurovision is not a force to be messed with. Even Russia knows that.

White on white hate crime

White on white hate crime

Ah Poland. Europe's punching bag.

That's also why it doesn't make sense to talk about white and black culture outside of USA because the cultures are so different from country to country in Europe and there's a pecking order going on amongst white people. Even people from, say, the Middle East will rarely say "You white people" but rather "You French/German/Norwegian/and-so-on people"

Now, is it racism? It depends on how much you buy into the idea of race. A Dane who hates Swedes wouldn't call that racist, but people from Eastern Europe start to look different enough that it's often called racism, and in a way that plays into the negative feelings too. It's complicated.

(Chop) sticky situation

(Chop) sticky situation

I went to a running sushi restaurant with some friends the other day and we talked about how weird it feels for westerners to eat fish and rice with our fingers. We'd much rather learn how to use a new tool (chopsticks) than poke our fingers into raw fish, even if it would be MUCH easier.

*fingers in ears* It's not political!

Apparently Little My from the Moomins and Sailor Moon are Lithuania and Belarus' ascetics this year. And let's not forget that Epic Sax Guy is back.

Entrepreneur

It's legal to be a prostitute in all European countries.

However in five of them it's illegal to be a customer. This was put in place partly because it's a bit of a grey area whether the prostitute is always willing or possibly forced to do it, but a customer is always willingly visiting a prostitute.

In most European countries it's perfectly legal to be both a prostitute and a customer though, but illegal to own a brothel or be a pimp. If the prostitute has to hand any of their money over to anyone else besides the government in the form of taxes, that other person is in big trouble. Here prostitutes are considered self-employed entrepreneurs.

And then there's a few countries where brothels are legal, but regulated.

No reason why specifically Canada is the customer here. I just needed a harmless dude from a country where prostitution is illegal.
