Some are more hospitable than others

The Faroe Islands aren't exactly overrun with animals in the first place, but dear lord the conditions sounds harsh for anyone or anything that can't hide indoors. Like my Faoese housemate told me "There's always salt on my parents' windows because the wind sprays sea water everywhere, and they live pretty far from the coast"

Sheepish Food Cravings

Sheepish Food Cravings

I got to taste some fermented sheep the other day that my Faroese housemate got from her home country. I actually rather liked it and thought it tasted and smelled like very mature cheese (my Danish housemate however thought it smelled "wrong" and proceeded to open the door to vent out, not caring how much frost she let in)

However, I got a bit concerned when she told me you can't buy it in stores, so if you want it you have to make it yourself...

A Big F You

A Big F You

Denmark really did put Greenland through a lot of shit and fucked everything up like you wouldn't believe, and today Greenland has the highest number of suicides of any country (They weren't on the list for a long time because they were counted as part of Denmark).

The girl at the end is Sami (I know, I keep changing her design, but I think I'm finally happy with it) the indigenous people of Scandinavia. They were horribly treated by Sweden and Norway and, like Greenlanders, are still subjected to ridicule, so it's no wonder they didn't adopt the Scandinavian Cross either.

Never say never

Never say never

In Iceland they use the heat from lava to grow bananas because they don't get enough sun.

Zombie Zoo

Children are considered pretty sturdy up here in the North.

During the whole giraffe debate my Faroese housemate was like "I don't see why people are so offended by children seeing an anatomy lesson. On the Faroe Islands school children are shown how to kill a sheep"

Great Nature

Great Nature

The Faroe Islands are almost all mountains, but not a single one of them has a tree on it, so a lot of young Faroese children get a huge "Wow!" moment when they visits places like Norway or Sweden.

Uninvited Guest

Uninvited Guest

Everybody knows everybody on the Faroe Islands so they don't lock their doors and anybody can walk into their houses, even when nobody's home. It's impolite to do it to people you aren't friends with, but it happens.

I kid you not. The Faroe Islands bought grass from Denmark to use for football fields, but accidently got wasps too.

To make matters worse, the wasps on The Faroe Islands are unusually aggressive because of the cold weather.

Too hot for this world

Too hot for this world

Heat makes the Nordics a little weird in the head, unless their country HAS LAVA COMING OUT OF EVERY HOLE MOTHERFLIPPING ICELAND!!!

The Faroe Islands are possibly the coldest of the countries all year round, so he really doesn't handle heat well.

Dark Sun

Dark Sun

People rented hotel rooms 16 years in advance to see the total eclipse on the Faroe Islands, so the people who were too slow had to rent rooms with private people, which didn't come cheap. And to top it off, it was overcast on the day of the eclipse.
