The Circle of Beer

The Circle of Beer

Okay, not so much a "circle" as a "food chain". Norwegians and Swedes think their beer is too expensive and cross the water to buy it in Denmark (or Finland, but we don't talk about that). Danes just think beer is too expensive in Scandinavia as a whole and cross the border to buy it in Germany. And Germans buy their beer in...nah, I could go on forever. :XD:

Yup, they're singing drinking songs. The first is a Swedish drinking song that is sung all over Scandinavia. The second is of course German.

The Something

The Something

I was pretty impressed after watching the trailer for "The Thing" (a prequel to the old movie of the same name) to see that the Norwegian team was actually played by Norwegian actors, with two Danish actors in between. Don't know if the Danes are supposed to be playing Norwegians, but I noticed they had Danish last names.

The Americans in the movie were played by, obviously, Americans, an Australian and an Englishman, but I forgot to add England. I'm sorry. :(

This is how the SaTW characters would act if they found themselves in an alien horror movie. America does not like aliens. Give him zombies, ghosts, mutants, ANYTHING BUT ALIENS!! D8
Denmark is more scared of the snow than the alien...

Not English

Not English

You'd be surprised how often I'm asked that question. It's usually by people from English speaking countries who can't speak any other language themselves. :XD:

And I google translated all of it from English, even the Danish, just for the hell of it. :XD:

Robots!

Robots!

I know I'm just asking for trouble by implying that Japan is *GASP!* not perfect *OHMYGODZ!!!* but this was too good to pass up.

They had a robot theme night on TV and one guy was talking very warmly about Japanese robots and how fantastic they were. The reporter then asked why the Japanese people loved robots so much, and the guy looked very apologetic and sort mumbled "Well, there's a lot of reasons, like they love dolls and everything electronic.....and they prefer robots to immigrants. It's not something people usually talk about, but the Japanese are pretty racist on that point" He looked so uncomfortable while saying it, which just made it even more funny.

Preferring robots to real humans is such a mad scientist thing to do that I couldn't ignore it. :XD:

The Winner Is

The Winner Is

Finally pulled myself up and did the Eurovision comic. But god dammit it was boring this year.

Anyway, no one really knew the winning country, and everybody were pretty much going "Who the hell is that?" :XD:

Denmark's comment is from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iATO8oNzNGI

And of course Norway know it, but couldn't tell anyone because he was the only Nordic country that didn't get in this year.

This is a joke on the Scandinavian state flags.

Poor Denmark isn’t quite as well equipped as his friends. :XD:

Mean Names

Mean Names

The head-thing Norway and Denmark are doing is a replacement for hugging, because hugs look so awkward with their tiny bodies and giant heads.

Anyway, I was talking with a fellow Dane about the various mean names Scandinavians have given each other, and we realised that for some odd reason the Danes never came up with a name for their nemesis, the Swedes. We therefore came to the conclusion that “Swedes” was considered a sufficiently mean word in itself. :XD:

Ever since I saw this http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/because-every-country-is-the-best-at-something/# I’ve imagined Sweden to be crawling with video-game styled mutants. :XD:

Pacifist

Pacifist

Svalbard is the Norwegians’ favourite island, and a place where people are required to carry guns because of the large number of polar bears living there.

Sweden and Denmark trying to shoot each other is of course another joke on them holding the world record for most wars fought between them.

I came up three different ways it could go wrong when hading these guys weapons. I’ll probably draw them some day.
