Sheepish Food Cravings

Sheepish Food Cravings

I got to taste some fermented sheep the other day that my Faroese housemate got from her home country. I actually rather liked it and thought it tasted and smelled like very mature cheese (my Danish housemate however thought it smelled "wrong" and proceeded to open the door to vent out, not caring how much frost she let in)

However, I got a bit concerned when she told me you can't buy it in stores, so if you want it you have to make it yourself...

The joy of giving

The joy of giving

It hasn't happened yet, but Norway is thinking of giving Finland one of their mountains for Finland's 100th anniversary of independence.

In Norway they celebrate their independence every year with a big party so it's no wonder they want to make Finland's independence day special too.

Sorry about the no comic thing, but I promise to at least provide you with interesting facts until my arm gets better.

A Big F You

A Big F You

Denmark really did put Greenland through a lot of shit and fucked everything up like you wouldn't believe, and today Greenland has the highest number of suicides of any country (They weren't on the list for a long time because they were counted as part of Denmark).

The girl at the end is Sami (I know, I keep changing her design, but I think I'm finally happy with it) the indigenous people of Scandinavia. They were horribly treated by Sweden and Norway and, like Greenlanders, are still subjected to ridicule, so it's no wonder they didn't adopt the Scandinavian Cross either.

In Iceland they use the heat from lava to grow bananas because they don't get enough sun.

First off, of course I know Vikings didn't have horns on their helmets, but in Scandinavia it's common to use horn-helmets for silly goofy cartoons, and no-horn-helmets for serious Viking things.

Anyway, the transition from the Norse religion to Christianity was very gradual and fairly gentle compared to most other countries. For a very long time Scandinavians believed in both. To them the Christian cross looked like Thor's hammer when turned upside down, so they wore it like that as an amulet that provided both Jesus and Thor's protection.

Halloween 2015

Once again Halloween is upon us, and I'll never pass up an opportunity to draw these guys in costumes.

Denmark's costume is a reference to last week's comic.

Even though Sweden and Denmark fought a lot over Norway, Norway was sometimes also just used as an excuse to fight.

Swedes and Danes gotta fight, and Norway made it easier, okay? That's one of the reasons Swedes and Danes aren't as pissed at each other anymore. After Norway broke free from both of us, we couldn't come up with proper excuses to beat the shit out of each other.

Smile and wave

Smile and wave

Few people know what to do with their arms when they're talking in front of a group, but the Swedes are notoriously bad at it.

Professionals who teach Swedes what to do with their arms have good job security, lets put it like that.
