Fishy Situation

Fishy Situation

Norway is the only one fighting back here because, quite frankly, the rest of us Scandinavians were scared little babies during WWII.

The whale in the room

The whale in the room

I was talking with a woman from the Netherlands and somehow we ended up talking about how our countries treat stranded marine life. Of course the Netherlands have regular beaches where whales can get stranded, but the first thing that popped into my head were whales flopping over the sides of Netherlands' dams.

Banana Republics

Banana Republics

Sweden and Denmark are in a constant battle to see who can eat most bananas in Europe. At the moment Sweden is the ultimate European banana eater, but Denmark is closing in on them.

Air-tight defence

Air-tight defence

To be fair, the Danish police wasn't sure who had received training for using a specific gun, but the way they worded it when explaining it made it sound like they didn't know which police officers could use guns at all.

Also, say hello to North (or Grandpa North). He's a bid old fashioned and has trouble controlling his violent tendencies sometimes.
And of course I know Viking helmets didn't have horns, but here in Scandinavia we use horn-less helmets for serious things and helmets with horns for cartoony things.

Brightest Sheep in the Field

Brightest Sheep in the Field

And this is just one of many many reasons why, when Netherlands and Denmark hang out, they hang out alone.

But people actually paint their sheep bright colors in some parts of England to avoid people stealing them.

No pets allowed

No pets allowed

When I heard about the "No guns allowed" signs outside of some stores in the US, this was the first thing I thought of.

In Denmark we just have "no freaking beer allowed when will you fucking learn!?" signs.

Great Nature

Great Nature

The Faroe Islands are almost all mountains, but not a single one of them has a tree on it, so a lot of young Faroese children get a huge "Wow!" moment when they visits places like Norway or Sweden.

Dance With Me

Dance With Me

I was reading up on Danish folk dancing, and the description "partner swapping" came up a lot. So much so that it's not unusual for women to end up with women and men with men at some point during a dance.

Also, screaming in each other's faces. There's quite a bit of that.

Danish folk dancing isn't set in stone, so it has become very common to add a bit of Russian flare to make it more entertaining to watch.

All of this can be seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyJSA7-KHqg
If it feels a bit slow, it speeds up at 2:26
